Description:

A postdoctoral position (1 year with possible extensions) is available immediately in the marine biology group at Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection, University of Lodz.

We seek highly qualified and enthusiastic applicant with strong skills in computational biology/bioinformatics, ideally with experience on comparative or evolutionary genome analyses of marine crustaceans. The qualified candidate will focus on new approaches for the analysis of phylogenetic and genomic data produced in our lab.

The postdoctoral fellow will be funded by a recently awarded National Science Centre Grant.

 

Qualifications:

– PhD in Genetics, Invertebrate Genetics, Evolutionary Biology, Bioinformatics or other related field.

– Advanced knowledge in phylogeny and systematics of marine crustaceans;

 

– Track record of publications in molecular phylogenetics / comparative genomics.

– Programming skills in Python, Perl, Java, C++, R or other language.

– Experience with Linux and high performance computing environments.

– Demonstrated ability in developing/applying statistical or machine learning methods in computational biology.

– Experience in genome scale data analysis (genome annotation, biological sequence analysis or other relevant computational genomics experience).

– Highly motivated for interdisciplinary research, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as within a research group.
